Amid a steep rise in crime, diminished police force and increase in homelessness in Los Angeles, the Pacific Palisades needs more support. PPRA has launched the Community Safety Program to prevent crime by installing license plate reading (LPR) cameras at every entry/exit point into the Palisades, thereby establishing “virtual gates” where criminals can be identified.

Most Palisadians have either been directly affected by crime or know a neighbor who has — but with an underfunded and understaffed LAPD that rarely patrols our streets, we are left without a fully effective community response. As home burglaries, shoplifting, car break-ins, and package theft become frequent, it is critical that we secure the Palisades with every tool at our disposal.

In collaboration with LAPD, PPRA is contracting with Flock Safety and Vigilant, the national leaders in public safety operating systems for communities just like the Palisades. LPR cameras provide 24/7 monitoring for neighborhoods. Their systems help deter and fight against property crime, violent crime, stolen vehicles and more.

We are looking to secure private and public property locations and raise the necessary funds to install the systems under an initial 2-year pilot program contract. Join the Founding Sponsors of our “Adopt a Camera” program* by funding a camera for 1-year at $3,000 or $6,000 for the entirety of the 2-year contract.

Become a member of PPRA by donating to the Community Safety Program. Communities with secured funds ($6000 per camera) will receive priority installation.

Please address your ‘tax deductible’ check to Pacific Palisades Residents Association at P.O. Box 1141, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272 or donate online at www.palisadesresidents.com

We look forward to collaborating with you and making safety our top priority in Pacific Palisades.

Jessica Rogers, PPRA President

Our story

PPRA History

PPRA has been active since 1958 and has played a critical role in preventing and downsizing projects and developments that would have forever changed our cherished Village.

Some of the notable achievements are:

  1. No Oil
  2. Reduction in size of original Marquez Knolls development by the Lachman brothers
  3. Reduction in size of Palisades Highlands development by the Headland Corporation
  4. Restrictions on size and operations for the renovation of the Getty Villa
  5. Working with Save the Bluffs to obtain the recent disapproval of the non-conforming apartment development at 16990-17000 Sunset Boulevard.

What We Do for Pacific Palisades

Preserving the Beauty and Safety of Pacific Palisades

PPRA has over sixty years of representing Palisadians to preserve commercial zoning laws, and safe development The organization has been a leader in the community by protecting our coastal and natural resources. With landslide areas and unique topography PPRA has been active in ensuring developments are safe. The organization has encouraged traffic and geological studies where necessary.

Preventing Dangerous Developments

In the last ten years PPRA prevented a city approved Costco sized apartment building from going up on a landslide zone with hundreds of neighbors living beneath it. The City should have never approved this project which violated local and coastal laws. Through PPRA’s leadership the project was defeated. The last vestige of ocean view on Sunset was preserved and safely for drivers along Sunset was better ensured.

Educating and Informing Neighbors

For sixty years PPRA has provided annual meetings for Palisadians on informative topics. Recently we hosted a community wide meeting with a panel of experts to discuss preserving local Coastal Laws and educating the community on the Coastal Act. PPRA has educated the community with articles on up to date local information with Facebook social media. PPRA manages Pacific Palisades Residents Association and Save the Blufffs. We have thousands of followers.

The Time to Come Together is Now Los Angeles

The City Administrative Office announced that they had concluded their feasibility study of the beaches and parks in district 11 and decided that Will Rogers Beach, Dockweiler Beach, Mar Vista and Westchester Park were not feasible sites to build tiny homes. While we have avoided the catastrophe of a bad idea, we still have a humanitarian crisis on our hands. NOW is the time to stand up for reasonable compassionate solutions to the humanitarian crisis. When we end bad policies, we end bad outcomes

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Should I Become Supporter?

Pacific Palisades, many believe is the most beautiful community in America. Our sweeping Ocean views, combined with our mountainous terrain is unlike any other. It’s vital to make annual gifts and support our Resident organization so we can continue our 60 year history of preserving the best of Pacific Palidsades. A place where neighbors can collaborate their resources and talents to preserve and protect what is best in their community. PPRA helps all Palisadians. Unlike other local organizations PPRA has a history of achieving results through legal action. The organization only pursues matters legally for health and safety concerns and as a last resort when all other efforts for mediation have been exhausted.

What Has PPRA done for Pacific Palisades?

PPRA has influenced many planning issues: No Oil Drilling at Will Rogers State Beach, reduced size of Palisades Highlands, the commercial building at Sunset/PCH, and development on Sunset, defended the mountain Urban Limit Line, prevented more beach debris dumping and more beach restaurants, supported acquisition of Santa Monica Mountains parkland including Temescal Canyon State Park, worked on the Palisades Commercial Areas Specific Plan and to protect Palisades Recreation Center from inappropriate and overuse, and more.

How Do I Become a Supporter?

When was PPRA Founded?

Since 1958, Pacific Palisades Residents Association and its volunteer board of directors have worked diligently to monitor land use development here, to protect the residential, coastal and mountain areas and be a voice for reasonable land use planning. Some board members have served the community for many years. We hear from residents that a primary reason they moved to the Palisades is the positive attributes of the community. This is due in significant part to the years the volunteers of PPRA has devoted to the community. We want to continue this tradition of assisting to maintain some of the wonderful “small town community feeling with open space” of the Palisades, while also working with those who want to make changes.
